Volunteer Opportunities
Facilities and Grounds Support
Our campus is expansive and requires upkeep so that it remains to be a beautiful, welcoming space for families and guests. With 30 apartments and 2.51 acres, there are several maintenance and landscaping project opportunities. Volunteers with landscaping and home improvement experience are a plus. This is a great opportunity for larger volunteer groups.
Duties Include:
Apartment Turnaround: Cleaning, painting, and preparing the apartment for new families.
Landscaping: Weeding, trash pickup, mulching, planting
Year-Round Opportunities


Meal Preparation & Service
Once a week on a weeknight, we provide our busy families with a full dinner service. This is a great opportunity for groups, and there are two different ways to serve: Meal providers and kitchen crew. Meal providers either bring a full meal to our kitchen, or use our full commercial kitchen to cook a meal on-site. Kitchen crew assists with clean-up, prep work, and service. Meals are typically served once a week, 6:15 pm-7:00pm.
Duties include:
Cooking or catering a full, well-balanced meal
Service help, including washing dishes, mopping floors, serving food and drink to residents, clearing plates, and more.
Kitchen Area is age restricted, volunteers under 16 are limited to dining room duties.
Setup: 5:30pm / Cleanup: 7:00 pm
Strive to Thrive Workshops
The adults in our program participate in workshops that will give them more opportunities in their lives and careers. This focus on education is directed by our Success Coaches and is led by individuals who are prepared to bring their skills and knowledge to our residents. Workshops are led by volunteers with expertise in the categories listed below. Workshops are held on weekday evenings.

Education and Training

Mentors for Adults
Mentors are needed to assist Rainbow Village adults in achieving his/her goals to move out of poverty. Mentors have an intentional friendship with adult residents offering coaching, problem-solving help, modeling unwritten rules and social norms of education and the workplace and offering encouragement and support. This volunteer opportunity is best suited to those who can commit to a long term (18 month) commitment and be available 6 – 10 hours per month. Training is provided and required as well as a background check.




Children & Youth Programs
The focus on education and personal success extends to our youth program, giving our resident children the chance to experience, grow, and learn. To do this, we have two options for volunteer assistance: After School and Weeknight Enrichment. Both require volunteer have experience with children, and are willing to participate on weekdays. All volunteers for Youth Programs MUST submit to a background check and additional training.
After School Duties:
Tutoring, reading programs, and classroom supervision
3:30pm-6:30pm weekdays during the school year
Enrichment includes learning subjects such as art, music, foreign language, STEM projects, and more
Great opportunity for individuals or groups
Weeknight Program Duties
7:00pm-8:15pm, one night per week during the School Year
Character Building and Personal Wellness focused lessons via play and enrichment
Perfect for groups and organizations who work with youth
Fun, exciting activities needed to engage children in active play.

Administrative Support
We can always use an extra pair of hands around the office. Your can help with administrative duties, database management, answering phones, sending thank you notes, and more. This opportunity is best suited for persons with administrative experience who are looking for an ongoing opportunity.
